RICHARD WILLIS
Security Expertise Grounded in Law Enforcement and Private Sector Leadership
Richard Willis is the Principal Consultant of Security Services Experts, LLC and brings more than 30 years of experience in security operations across public, private, and corporate environments. His background includes extensive service in law enforcement, executive protection, and private contract security, providing a comprehensive perspective on security practices and standards of reasonable care.

Professional Background
Mr. Willis holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the University of Memphis and is a graduate of multiple advanced training programs, including the Memphis Police Academy, the Law Enforcement Park Ranger Training Academy—where he graduated as Top Graduate—and the Executive Protection Institute in Washington, D.C. He is also a graduate of the FBI-ALERRT Active Shooter Response Instructor program and the Reid Interrogation Technique.
He is a certified NRA Police Firearms Instructor and currently serves as a Reserve Police Officer in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Willis is a former officer in the United States Air Force and maintains active involvement in professional security and law enforcement training initiatives.

Private Sector & Leadership Experience
In addition to his law enforcement background, Mr. Willis has over 20 years of experience in the private and contract security sector. He has owned and operated multiple security firms providing both physical and electronic security services and has served in Director of Security roles for a variety of organizations.
Notably, Mr. Willis was the first Corporate Security Manager and Executive Protection Lead following AutoZone’s transition to a publicly traded company. He has also served as a security consultant to the Colombian National Police and held the position of Security Director for three large U.S.-based megachurches.

Expert Witness Perspective
Mr. Willis has been retained by both plaintiff and defense counsel to evaluate security operations, personnel practices, and systems. His opinions are formed independently through review of evidence, testimony, policies, and procedures, with the objective of assisting judges and juries in understanding whether actions taken met applicable professional standards and the required duty of care.
